Forever Young

A fun age to be forever would be twenty-one. Twenty-one is an amazing age because you aren’t to young but also not to old. For example, I will still be young enough to be almost as athletic as a teen but also old enough to drive, get a job and vote. For a job I will be an environmental engineer and will make enough money to buy a house and other things like a secret movie theater behind a book shelf. I will also be able to try wine so whenever my parents go wine tasting I won’t have to sit outside for what feels like hours. At twenty one nearly anything is possible.

Shootout

One of my most adrenaline rushing moments in life was when I was 12. It is going into the fourth quarter. Not what anyone would expect. The number one Team is tied with my team, the number five team, in the semifinals. The ball is running down the sideline, the crowed roars, players move lightning quick and are as fast as cheetahs. This is what it was like during the fourth quarter, everyone was on their toes. The opposing team strikes. The ball is stollen! Here comes the break away! He shoots! He shoots he scores! We are on top of the number one team one to zero. We are now two minutes away from winning, on so I thought. With little time the opposing team makes their moves, they obviously aren’t counting themselves out. Passing the ball up field our defense is unorganized and is easily passed by the opposing team. They shoot! They score! Not long after that we go into penalty kicks. I am the first kicker to shoot. I miss. I shot the ball directly at the keeper. They shoot! They also miss. It is our turn again. We shoot. We score. Now it is their turn. They miss! We score for a second time and they miss for the third time. If we make this next shot it is game over and we will win. We shoot, we score! Game over, we are going to the finals!

Rad Reading – September (by Kai)

For my September book I am reading The Maze Runner by JAMES DASHNER. Maze runner is a science fiction book about a 16 tear old named Thomas and how he tries to escape the glade through the maze. However there are twists, the walls of the maze move, there are vicious half machine animal things called “grievers” that come out at night and most importantly no one in the glade can remember a thing, beside their name, from the outside world.

I really love this book because the author always keeps you guessing by keeping important pieces of information secret until the very end. You never fully know what’s happening and once you get a bit of information you will be craving for some more.

My favorite character is Thomas because he is always making bold decisions and puts his life after others even if it means he might die. According to the text, “Thomas knew he had no choice. He moved. Forward. He squeezed past the connecting rods at the last second and stepped into the maze. The walls behind slammed shut behind him, the echo of its boom bouncing of the ivy-covered stone like mad laughter.” At the beginning of the story Thomas was impatient and utterly clueless but as he spent more time in the Glade he got used to it and learned how everything worked. Thomas definitely matured and earned himself a spot as a “Glader”.

My favorite quote from the book is on page 113, “‘Greenie,’ Minho said, ‘if you think that was brave comin’ out here, listen up. You’re the shuckiest shuck-faced shuck there ever was. You’re as good as dead, just like us.’” I like this quote because Thomas just risked his life Minho and this is what he got for a response, also this line is one of many that proves Minho to be a stubborn character.

Rad Reading – September (by Kai)

For my September book I am also reading The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. The scorch trials is a sequel to Maze runner and is part of a three book trilogy. In the story the main character named Thomas and his friends have to find the safe haven where WICKED will give him a cure for the flare. However the night before Thomas begins his journey his best friend named Teresa is kidnapped. With a lack of food hand water will Thomas and his group of friends find Teresa and make it to the safe haven?

I really like this story because just like Maze Runner the author hides important information from both Thomas and the reader. Events happen but you don’t know who’s behind it until the very end of the story making it easy to blame people who didn’t cause anything.

My favorite character is Thomas because he never stops proving the fact that he is willing to sacrifice himself for others. According to the text, “Thomas was glad he couldn’t hear the wails of agony that appeared to be from Minho. He knew they didn’t have time to stop, so Thomas grabbed their leader by the shoulders and dragged him to his feet.” Even in the middle of a long lightning storm Thomas risks his life to save his friend named Minho. The two best character traits to describe Thomas are brave and hopeful. These two character traits are proved easily throughout not only this book but also in the Maze Runner.

My favorite quote from this book is on page 191, “‘Hello noses!’ a hideous voice yelled from the room.” I like this quote because it is funny and it isn’t something you would normally say in life. This is probably the most awkward part of the trilogy.

Welcome To The Glade

I would love to live in the universe of the book Maze Runner. I would love to be a runner trying to find a way out of the glade. I have always been dying to do an escape room so this is my chance. This will be thrilling adventure. Me and my fellow Gladers will be battling many grievers that get in our way to the exit. There will also be a second phase after that which will take place in a desert. In phase two, I will have to make it to a safe haven far from where I start. This will be an thrilling adventure.

My Tum Tum Goes Yum Yum

Every time I visit my grand parents up in Connecticut they always make my favorite meal. Lobster. Nice warm buttery lobster with a side of clams and a lemon vinaigrette salad. As a drink my dad makes me and my siblings an ice cold refreshing Shirley Temple with a sweet cherry and orange in it. As a desert we usually have a homemade blueberry pie fresh out of the oven. With this meal as tradition, no wonder why I love visiting my grand parents in Connecticut.

My Dream House

My dream house would be a lake house in Connecticut. The house would be three story high with a stony exterior. On the bottom floor there will be a foos ball table and pool table along with two guest bedrooms. On the second floor there will be a living room with a fire pit on the right of it. Also on second floor is another bedroom and a kitchen. Between the second and third floor there will be a bathroom along with a laundry room. On the third floor there will be to bedrooms and a balcony were you can look down from. Finally in the back yard there will be a dock were our boat will stay.

Tropical Paradise

If I could travel anywhere on planet earth it would be to St. Martins. In St. Martins I would scuba dive in the warm clear waters by Little Bay Beach where octopus and other small fish live. Another reason I would go to St. Martins is to go to Gizmo’s where I would play bingo while drinking a refreshing Pina Colada and talk to a parrot named Gizmo who stays at the bar twenty-four seven and is very friendly. My final reason I would go to St. Martins is to get refreshing sweet coconuts there, where you can see people cut them open right in front of your face.

All About Me!

Hi, my name is Kai. Welcome to my blog. Allow me to introduce myself. I am twelve years old and live in a big family of seven, my mom, my dad, my three brothers (Davin, Bohdi, and Niko), my sister Marisa and myself. I have a pet hamster named Ollie, who would do anything for a bit of lettuce and eight fish. My favorite sports team is the Boston Red Sox. I once went to a World Series game finale where the Red Sox beat the Dodgers 6-1 and took the trophy.
